Robert Hilton /Rebecca Hilton, a violent male who identifies as a trans woman, was sentenced to life in prison in 1992 for murder. No details of the murder or victim are known, although the substantial length of time served indicates there would likely have been aggravating features in the murder.

Hilton underwent gender reassignment surgery in 2011 while incarcerated for 21 years. The switch from men’s to the women’s estate, including female open prison HMP East Sutton Park was immediate following the operation.
