Finn Eamon / Eve Crawford

Finn Eamon/Eve Crawford, a violent male who identifies as a transgender woman, was convicted in August 2022 at Aberdeen Sheriff Court of four charges of assault, one charge of threatening and abusive behaviour and prejudice relating to sexual orientation. It is unclear in media coverage whether racist slurs used by Crawford were also taken into account by the court as an aggravating element at sentencing.

Despite being on bail for other unspecified offence(s) when committing these violent crimes, Crawford, 23, avoided jail – instead being handed an 18-month supervision order and 120 hours of unpaid work.

In November 2021, Crawford had made violent threats to kill neighbours at 2am and, when the police were called, repeatedly bit, kicked, punched and spat at them. Crawford also used extreme racist, misogynistic and homophobic slurs against the constables, calling them “p**fs” and “c**ts”, calling one officer “a slanty-eyed b***h”. When asked about the assault on the officers, Crawford told police it was an “autistic meltdown”.

Local media coverage exclusively used female pronouns and referred to Crawford as a woman in headlines, prompting questions for Police Scotland as to whether the crimes had been recorded as being committed by a male or female offender.

Other trans-identified males who have been convicted of racially aggravated offences are collated here and offenders with a homophobic element to their offending are collated here.

*Update December 2022*

Eamon/Crawford was convicted in December 2022 at Aberdeen Sheriff Court of vandalism after being caught red-handed spray painting University buildings. The Press & Journal reports that the graffiti is thought to be in Japanese but nobody has yet been able to decipher it. The sheriff handed Eamon/Crawford 60 hours of unpaid work to be completed within one year after the court was told of the defendant’s mental health issues. Eamon/Crawford is apparently also serving another community sentence in addition to the one imposed in October 2022 for threats against neighbours and assault plus racist/homophobic/misogynistic abuse of police officers.
