Andrea Slater, believed to be a male who identifies as a transgender woman, was charged with multiple historic allegations of child sexual abuse at Workington Magistrates’ Court on Monday 23 September 2025. The News & Star described Slater as a ‘woman’ and reports that the defendant did not enter a pleas and was bailed after the hearing. Six charges were made including four child sexual assault charges.

Slater, aged 50 and from Whitehaven, Cumbria later appeared at Carlisle Crown Court for a plea and trial preparation hearing on October 20.
