Michael/Skylar Savage, a male who identifies as a transgender woman, was convicted in March 2026 at Chester Crown Court, of multiple sexual offences against three children. The offences Savage admitted included causing a child to watch a sexual act, inciting a child to engage in sexual activity, attempting to engage in sexual communication with a child, possession of indecent images of a child, possession of extreme pornographic images, and engaging in sexual communication with a child.

Savage, aged 47 and from Frodsham, Cheshire, was jailed for 33 months and will serve the sentence in a men’s prison. A five-year sexual harm prevention order was imposed and Savage was ordered to sign the Sex Offenders Register. He reportedly has 12 previous offences on record, including drink-driving and driving whilst disqualified, for which he was given a suspended prison sentence in March 2023. Savage is (likely unwittingly) documenting his autogynephilia (a common paraphilia/fetish where men are aroused by the thought of themselves as women) on the internet, by posing (what he imagines) provocatively on a bed wearing a black bra and writing “Now I feel sexy and myself. I’m gonna shout it to the world.”

 Savage had subjected a 13-year-old girl and two 15-year-olds (a boy and a girl) to sexual messages, one of which included a video of Savage ‘carrying out a sex act’ (i.e. masturbating). The court heard Savage was arrested after police raided the house he shared with his 82-year-old mother in December 2023. One of the victims had to see Savage around town after the abuse and her parents told the court of the lasting effects of Savage’s abuse on the victim’s mental and physical health. She had kept the messages secret because she feared her parents would be angry with her, even though she had been targeted and groomed by Savage and refused his demands for sexualised images.

No journalists challenged assertions made in court by Savage’s barrister that his offending was due to being in a ‘dark place’ from undergoing hormone therapy. If this is remotely plausible, then an adverse event report should be filed with the Medicines & Healthcare products Regulatory Agency (MHRA) by the doctor who prescribed the hormones to Savage, indicating that sexually abusing children could be a side effect of the medication. These so-called Yellow Card reports help the MHRA identify new safety issues with prescription medicines as early as possible. This potential side effect should also be taken into account by statutory agencies as it indicates that men taking cross-sex hormones could be a safeguarding risk. Back in 2018, Roseanne Barr attempted to blame a racist tweet on her Ambien medication and got short shrift from the company that makes the drug, so presumably manufacturers of synthetic hormones would be similarly keen to refute a similarly outrageous claim by a convicted sex offender.

Several other trans-identified individuals (both male and female) have attempted to blame their crimes on hormone medication – e.g. Josh/Samantha Howard (a trans identified male) who blamed hormones obtained via the internet for four assaults on emergency workers, Helen Doe (a trans-identified male) blamed hormones for a near-fatal attack on his brother, and Jesse Hawthorn (a trans-identified female) who blamed an inappropriate level of testosterone being prescribed as the reason for perpetrating appalling violence against an ex’s new partner.

For once, media outlets were generally clear about Savage’s sex, with e.g. the Telegraph using male pronouns and stating clearly that he was “born male but identifies as a woman” and the Sun avoiding pronoun use outside reported speech from the trial.
