John Martin
John Martin, a violent male transvestite, was convicted at Birmingham Crown Court in 2012 of three charges of making indecent images of children and two of possessing prohibited images of a child, and was ordered to register as a sex offender for seven years.
Martin, 69, was sentenced to 40 weeks’ imprisonment suspended for two years.
Police raided Martin’s home in August last year after discovering he had been using a virtual gaming site on the internet to download the obscene photos.
Martin also had “disturbing” text conversations with another man named Ray recovered from his phone, where he indicated a desire to engage in sexual activity with a small child and made reference to a family.
Judge Robert Orme told the defendant “The other disturbing feature apart from the frankly revolting and degrading nature of the images themselves is that text conversation you had with a person called Ray.”
The court heard that Martin, a grandfather, had been married three times, but was separated from his last wife so now lived alone. He was also said to have visited transvestite forums on the internet to try to come to terms with his own sexuality (stated as bisexual).
