Carl Nicholson, a male transvestite, was convicted at Exeter Crown Court in January 2016 of the latest in a series of burglaries of women’s homes to steal their underwear. Nicholson, aged 44 and from Exmouth, stole knickers from homes and washing lines 120 times, and was once arrested in a pub while wearing a red basque he had stolen.

Nicholson was caught after being disturbed during a burglary on 2 September 2015. He was reportedly so obsessed by women’s clothing, he went on a hunt for garments just five days after being freed on a suspended sentence for previous similar burglaries. He was jailed for 30 months and his two-year suspended sentence was activated, making his total prison sentence four and a half years.

Judge Erik Salomonsen told him: “You have a very long record for burglary. You were given a chance last time and you have let down those who tried to help you.” Image credit: SWNS via Daily Mirror
