Dean Sawley

Dean Sawley (aka Vince/Dee-Anne), a violent male who identifies as a trans woman, was convicted of the rape, assault by penetration and sexual assault of a vulnerable child with learning difficulties. Sawley, 30, was jailed for 9 years at Durham Crown Court in 2013 and will remain on the sex offenders’ register for life, and be subject to a lifelong restraining order to protect the victim.

Sawley committed the offences after drinking heavily at a party and had earlier made inappropriate comments and exposed himself to two females, aged 15 and 23.

The judge told Sawley his victim had “suffered a most adverse impact through his actions.”

In an attempt to presumably mitigate his client’s serious sexual offending, defence counsel inexplicably suggested that Sawley “acted in a completely different manner when in his different personalities.” The court also heard the defendant’s relationship had broken down “five months before the rape after telling his girlfriend he wanted a sex change and he had started wearing women’s clothes.”
