Gavin Scott

Gavin Scott, a violent male transvestite, was convicted at Perth Sheriff Court in 2014 of sexually assaulting three female shop assistants at clothing and shoe stores, one of whom was aged just 17 years old. Three other charges relating to similar incidents at a third store and a school car park were dropped. His bail conditions banned him from St Catherine’s Retail Park in Perth.

Scott, 52, escaped a prison sentence, despite such serious and repeat sexual offending, and (male) Sheriff Lindsay Foulis instead ordered Scott to pay a total of £900 in compensation to his three victims. He was also placed on the sex offenders register for three years, during which time he will be subject to a supervision order and ordered to attend the Tay Project programme for sex offenders.

Scott, had arrived at the store wearing stereotypically female clothing, asked the 17-year-old to help him while he tried on dresses. The teenager felt uncomfortable as Scott insisted on keeping his hands behind his back and therefore left the dressing room. As he left the store he then sexually assaulted her. Scott then perpetrated similar offences in two other stores and the court heard he was observed to be “touching himself while browsing for thigh-high boots.”
