Rachel Smith
Rachel Smith, a violent male who identifies as a trans woman, has over 50 convictions, dating back to a conviction for indecent assault in 1994.
More recently, Smith was convicted of making indecent images of children in 2018 and received a suspended jail term and made the subject of a sexual harm prevention order (SHPO) for ten years. Smith, 56, was then found guilty in 2020 of breaching the SHPO and sentenced to a three year community order at Newcastle Crown Court .
Despite the SHPO preventing Smith from having unsupervised or online contact with children under 16, police found online messages between Smith and a girl, 14, which showed they had been in regular contact. A relative of the girl had warned Smith off and said the victim was 14, but this had no effect.
All media coverage referred to Smith, of East Howdon, Tyne & Wear, as a ‘female’ sex offender.
