Tracey Smith
Tracey Smith, a male who identifies as a transgender woman, was convicted at Westminster Magistrates’ Court in London in October 2025 of the harassment of a female Labour politician, Ellie Reeves, MP for Lewisham West and East Dulwich and Solicitor General (and younger sister of the Chancellor of the Exchequer, Rachel Reeves). Ms Reeves gave her evidence from behind a screen with her protection officer sitting nearby and told the court she now has to have security with her when she is in her constituency, “partly because of these communications”.
Smith, aged 58 and from Lewisham, sent a “barrage” of 22 emails and 10 voicemails accusing Ms Reeves of being “transphobic” and “fascist” between July and October 2024, accusing her of wanting to “legalise abuse”, as well as sexual assault and “deprivation of civil liberties” for trans women.. The barrage also included a menacing voicemail telling her “time is running out” for Ms Reeves to respond, which she deemed to have crossed a line. In emails and voicemails, Smith outlined how he had issue court proceedings against Keir Starmer and claimed to be the victim of sexual abuse at the hands of civil servants in Lewisham, as well as police officers and doctors. Smith alleged he had been targeted “purely because I am trans”
Smith’s other baseless accusations included that Ellie Reeves’ sister Rachel Reeves had repeatedly attacked him over his trans identity and physically assaulted him at a buffet event. Smith then persuaded Central London county court to issue a witness summons to Ms Reeves regarding some case he was pursuing which the MP was able to avoid only with the help of lawyers for the Speaker of the House who successfully argued on her behalf that the need for her to sit in Parliament that day “overrode a witness summons”. Ms Reeves, who told the court repeatedly that Smith was bombarding her with false accusations of crimes, said she had no idea what the civil claim was about but the county court told her she could only have the witness summons withdrawn by paying a £300 fee and attending a court hearing, at which Smith was likely to be present.
Smith also threatened in a voicemail that “groups of victims” would be waiting for Ms Reeves at court, and suggested that if she did not attend she may be brought to court in a secure van. Ms Reeves told the court “You deal with a lot as an MP, but this was so outside the realms of what I consider to be acceptable, and it was distressing. It did make me feel quite anxious about where does this end.”
District judge Michael Snow said Smith’s communication had been “menacing” and “alarming” for Ms Reeves and her staff. “It’s a danger to our democracy if politicians feel they need to cocoon themselves,” he added. “She [sic] knew her behaviour was harassing Ms Reeves.”

Unlike Ms Reeves, Ms Duffield and Ms Cherry received no support from their parties following this abuse as they have been vocal in highlighting how gender self-ID harms women and girls. In fact, Ms Duffield was further abused by Michael Cashman (a Labour member of the House of Lords) after he said she was too “frit or lazy” to attend hustings just days after her abuser was convicted. In August 2025, a group of violent male trans activists smashed the windows and spray painted the constituency office of the Health Secretary Wes Streeting prior to similarly attacking a conference venue in Brighton that was hosting 2000+ women from around the world the next day. The BBC declined to cover the story of Mr Streeting’s office being targeted by trans activists, despite routinely covering attacks on other MPs’ offices, including Peter Bone, Simon Hart, Jo Stevens and Sharon Hodgson. The BBC also did not cover this case.
Other trans-identified males who have been convicted of violent sex offences also later turned out to have either barraged politicians with abuse on social media because they supported single sex spaces (such as the rapist Alexander Secker/Lexi Bowen) or supported Nicola Sturgeon’s determination to introduce gender self-ID in Scotland (such as sex offenders Lennon/Katie Dolatowski and Andrew Miller/Amy George). Now, why would male sex offenders be so keen for laws that could grant them access to female spaces where women and girls are vulnerable?

At the sentencing hearing at Westminster magistrates’ court, Smith was jailed for 26 weeks and ordered to pay costs of £650. An indefinite retraining order was also imposed. Contrast this actual jail time with the consequences for trans-activist men who threatened gender critical female MPs (see above), both of whom received suspended sentences. As did other male trans activists such as “Leyla” Le Fey who persecuted women’s rights campaigners Kellie Jay Keen of Let Women Speak and Helen Joyce of Sex Matters with extremely violent threats. In fact, Kellie Jay Keen has also recently highlighted another ongoing campaign of harassment she and her family have endured for six years from a male trans activist which the police have done nothing about, despite witnessing it themselves.
Once again the BBC did not cover the story of Smith’s sentencing, despite being embroiled in an ongoing furore regarding biased coverage of Trump, Gaza and transgender issues, where activists within the corporation were able to prevent coverage of news stories that were in any way critical of transgenderism. Yet, the very same day of the sentencing, the BBC covered yet another case of appalling abuse that a man subjected a female MP to, with Khaldoun Jayousi, from Lancaster appearing at the very same court accused of threatening to kill Cat Smith, MP. In media coverage, whether Tracey Smith was referred to as a “trans woman” or a “woman” depressingly split down ideological lines, with both The Guardian and Independent calling this violent man a “woman” in headlines, despite it overwhelmingly being men who commit these kinds of anti-democratic, intimidatory offences against female politicians.
District Judge Michael Snow said Smith’s offending was intended to cause Ms Reeves “maximum fear and distress” and was “a direct attack upon democracy”. He was also scathing of how the county court had been inveigled into perpetuating Smith’s abuse of Reeves, saying “I am appalled if this be the case that the civil courts are so poorly organised that they do not address the issue of whether a witness has material evidence to give and consider whether the purpose of obtaining a witness summons is to harass.”
News coverage did not mention where Smith has been incarcerated, but the rules for male trans criminals prevent them being placed in the female estate if they have been convicted of violent or sexually violent crimes against women. It would be the height of hypocrisy of the government to act to prevent this violent man abusing a female MP, yet to subject vulnerable women in prison to him.
