Keri Uter

Keri Uter, a male who identifies as transgender woman, was charged at Taunton Crown Court in March 2026 with three counts of rape, assault causing actual bodily harm, strangulation, sexual assault and making threats with an offensive weapon.

The Avon and Somerset Police press release describes the “defendant and victims” (complainants, surely?) as “adult transgender women”.

Uter, aged 24 and from Bridgwater, Somerset was remanded into custody at an earlier hearing in January 2026. The trial is scheduled to start on 20 July.

Local media reports variously described the defendant as a man in headlines, then a ‘transgender woman’ then a ‘woman’ – see two different archived versions of the Bristol Post article here and here.

The Bridgwater Mercury has since deleted its article entitled “Bridgwater man due for trial on charges of rape and assault”, although the link is still brought up via Google search for “Keri Uter” at the time of writing.
