Andre Kirlew/Allahra Aziz

Andre Kirlew/Allahra Aziz (aka musician K’dre) a male who identifies as a trans woman, was convicted of burglary and fraud at Oxford Crown Court in 2017. Aziz had stolen a cardiac surgeon’s wallet from a private area of the John Radcliffe Hospital and used a bank card to fraudulently purchase goods.

After reportedly hearing of ‘the difficult time faced by transgender women in men’s prisons’  Aziz, 37, was sentenced to four months for burglary and one month for fraud, to run concurrently.

When referred to as ‘he’ and ‘sir’, Aziz (appearing by video link from prison) said “I’m transgender and I find it very disrespectful that you would refer to me as ‘sir’. During the outburst, Aziz also claimed to have given birth to a son and to have been the victim of rape while incarcerated at HMP Wormwood Scrubs in London. Judge Ian Pringle QC addressed Aziz and said: “Please accept my apologies.”

Aziz previously appeared at Westminster Magistrate’s Court in October 2016 charged with a string of burglaries across London and of attempting to steal £2000 from a family member the previous month. The sole media report available online states that the court heard Kirlew/Aziz, 35, “impersonated her own step mother to try and steal £2,000 from her bank… and committed a string of burglaries across London in a £1,824 month-long crime spree.” No information on sentencing could be found.

Andre Kirlew had been the subject of a police appeal in June 2016 indicating an attempt to avoid prosecution
