Skyla Stone

Skyla Stone, a male who identifies as a transgender woman, is sought by Surrey Police for an unknown offence after failing to appear in court.

Like the recent North Yorkshire Police appeal for an absconded male sex offender who “can present as female under the name Karla”, Surrey Police obfuscated the sex of Stone, using female pronouns throughout the appeal and describing Stone as a “wanted woman”. As pointed out by Surrey Women’s Rights Network, this could potentially put the public at risk and delay apprehension of Stone. Surrey Live then duly reported Stone as a “wanted woman”.

The appeal from Surrey Police came within days of the conviction of the prominent Surrey-based trans activist, Stephen Ireland, for multiple sex offences against children. Further details of Surrey Police’s involvement with Surrey Pride (of which Stephen Ireland was CEO) is available via the feminist new service Reduxx, here.

Stone is aged 49 and described as white with brown hair and blue/green eyes, with links to Guildford so is potentially in the town or surrounding areas. Officers have asked members of the public who may have seen Stone or who have any information that could help officers locate the defendant, to contact them quoting PR/45230052133 via their online reporting tool or by calling 101. Alternatively, call independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
