Ryan Haley/Natalie Wolf, a violent male who identifies as a transgender woman, was convicted in November 2025 at Newcastle Crown Court of sexual activity with a child. The victim was a 13 year old girl.

Haley/Wolf, aged 47 and from Byker, Newcastle was sentenced to three and a half years imprisonment with lifelong sex offender registration and a sexual harm prevention order. The sentence will be served in a men’s prison – he has been held on remand in a Category B male prison, HMP Durham).

The victim, now an adult, made a brave and hard-hitting impact statement for the the court refusing to capitulate to her abuser’s demands, saying “Ryan Haley wants everyone to know him as Natalie Wolf but in my eyes he is Ryan Haley, the man who sexually abused me.” She added: “Ryan, you destroyed me as a child, I kept this inside me for many years until I was strong enough to report it.” The court, however, referred to her male attacker with female pronouns.

Haley/Wolf – who has a personality disorder, mental health issues and 13 previous convictions – also claimed to have been born “intersex” and said the victim was ‘lying through her teeth’. He also sent notes to the judge claiming that the jury was hypnotised into the guilty verdict or that the jury was planted with people that didn’t like him. The judge gave him short shrift, saying “You are not the victim of a conspiracy. You are not the victim at all. [The woman] is the victim and the sooner you accept that, the better it will be going forward.”

The media widely reported the victim’s statement that refused to call the man who molested her by a female name. Even the BBC described Haley as “a biological male who now identifies as a woman called Natalie Wolf”, reflecting the new policy to include such a descriptor when it helps the public understand the story – and the widespread fury at depraved sex offenders and murderers having been described as “women” by our national broadcaster in the past. The Daily Mail were also bolder than they have been previously, using male pronouns in the headline of the story reading “Trans molester who abused teen girl is held in male prison – because he is biologically male.”
