Adam/Eve Shaw

Adam/Eve Shaw, a male who identifies as a transgender woman, was acquitted in 2022 at Edinburgh Sheriff Court of sending a threatening Twitter message about Joanna Cherry, the SNP MP for Edinburgh South West.

Shaw, aged 28 and from Edinburgh, replied to a news article post about Ms Cherry with the comment “STG [swear to God] I am gonna pop Joanna Cherry” at around 5.23pm on January 22, 2022. The police subsequently raided Shaws’s flat and seized all electronic equipment before he was arrested and charged.

Ms Cherry has been a vocal critic of proposals to change the law to allow self-ID of gender in the UK and became the target of many deranged and violent male trans activists; another man named Grant Karte was convicted in March 2021 of sending her vicious threats. Ms Cherry has also accused some of her own colleagues of failing to defend her when she has received multiple threats.

Shaw apparently managed to convince the court that his intention in making the comment was to be “humorous”. Ms Cherry said, “I interpreted that this person was going to do me violence. ‘Pop’ refers to a gun shot or taking a pop at someone. I have to take these things seriously as two members of Parliament have been murdered since I became an MP.”

The sheriff, Ian Anderson said: “This was a very unwise message that no doubt caused a great deal of concern. “But I have some doubt, reasonable doubt, as to your guilt in the matter so you are therefore acquitted and I find you not guilty.”

*Update August 2026*

Shaw was arrested on August 20, 2026 after an “unknown substance” was reported on a lamppost on Morningside Road in Edinburgh. Two council cleansing workers were taken to hospital after falling ill while removing an “unauthorised sticker” (reportedly a trans flag) from the lamppost, sparking a large-scale response by emergency services. It is unknown what the “substance” was – i.e. whether biological or a suspected chemical/toxin/poison – on or under the sticker. 

See here for examples of trans-identified males throwing or smearing urine/blood/faeces, particularly the repulsive male trans activists who emptied litres of urine around the offices of the EHRC which will likely have had to be scrubbed away by female cleaners not paid enough to have to do something so disgusting. As noted by the feminist writer Victoria Smith, a perfect example of how gender functions, where men get to – quite literally – piss around and women get to clear up the mess.

The road where the Edinburgh incident occurred was closed for several hours from 2pm and firefighters were in attendance with public transport disrupted in the area and a cordon erected around the site of the lamppost. The council workers were later discharged from hospital, thankfully unharmed, and the police reassured local residents that the substance had been deemed safe following testing. Edinburgh News reports that emergency services were called out for a second time later that evening following “additional reports of a potential hazardous material” near Hermitage Terrace.

Police Scotland later said in a statement that a 30-year-old “woman” had been charged in connection with culpable and reckless conduct and that “she” would appear at the capital’s sheriff court at a later date. The Scottish Sun picked up critical commentary directed at Police Scotland from Trina Budge, of For Women Scotland, who pointed out that “This contravenes your policy to record crimes by biological sex.” Ms Budge backed this up by linking to a Police Scotland document detailing the policy. The police tried to suggest to The Sun that the suspect’s biological sex was recorded but that any further statement engaged privacy concerns. This was disputed by a former police officer who cited the relevant legislation showing that it is not an offence to disclose protected information if police are investigating a crime. Ms Budge later asked “Even if privacy concerns were relevant, Police Scotland could have said Male, with no mention of trans at all. Why wasn’t that an option?”
