Anthony/Aria Peers, a violent male who identifies as a transgender woman, was convicted in November 2024 at Liverpool Crown Court of two counts of rape, attempted rape, three charges of sexual assault and two offences of inciting a child to engage in sexual activity. The Liverpool Echo noted that Peers’ crimes were so disturbing that the details were too graphic to publish.

As a reflection of the seriousness of the prolonged abuse perpetrated against the young female victim, Peers was jailed for 15 years and must serve at least two thirds before becoming eligible for release and an additional year on licence. Peers was also handed an indefinite sexual harm prevention order, a lifelong restraining order and will be required to sign the sex offenders’ register for life.

Peers, aged 51 and of Halewood, Merseyside, was a support worker and had appallingly abused the power his position gave him over a vulnerable child – apparently having groomed the girl over their shared interest in Star Wars. The judge told Peers: ‘You targeted a young female child for your own sexual gratification. The impact on her is untold.” The courts was told that Peers only identified as transgender after abusing the victim (i.e. yet another case of Prison Onset Gender Dysphoria). The judge told Peers that “as a transgender prisoner, there will be issues which you will have to navigate during the very long period of your sentence” – which is being served in a male prison.

Media generally referred to Peers’ trans status with headlines such as “Trans paedophile rapist…” although several only used the name Aria and all used female pronouns for a child rapist.
