David Cross / Kelly Denise Cross, a violent male who identifies as a trans woman, was convicted in 1991 of wounding a postmaster and his eight month old son in East Sussex and was sentenced to 17 years in prison. Mr David Halberg, the postmaster, was cradling his baby when Cross blasted a security screen, peppering him with pellets and debris during an armed robbery.

At the time, Cross reportedly told the court he had been “trying to raise money for a sex-change operation in Switzerland”. He wore a blonde wig and stockings under his mechanic’s overalls during the robbery.

In 2000, Cross, then aged 39 and known as Kelly Denise, was reported as awaiting transfer to a women’s prison after undergoing gender-reassignment treatment in prison, under the care of the discredited Dr Russell Reid.
