Graham Perryman

Graham Leonard Perryman, a violent male transvestite, was charged with robbery and possession of an intimation firearm when he appeared at Liverpool Crown Court in October 2017.

Perryman, 49, was arrested on suspicion of robbery and production of cannabis in September 2017. He is alleged to have used the imitation revolver during a robbery on a sex shop on Liverpool in August 2016.

CCTV footage captured inside the shop showed the offender wearing a red dress and wig and pulling a black handgun from his white handbag. He threatened a member of staff and, after a struggle, snatched money from the counter and left the shop. No one was physically hurt in the raid but staff were left distressed as they did not, of course, realise the gun was an imitation firearm.

Perryman was released on bail, with a trial set for March 2018.

*Update May 2018*

Perryman was jailed for five-and-a-half years at Liverpool Crown Court on 24 May 2018 after admitting robbery and possession of an imitation firearm. After DNA evidence led police to Perryman’s door 13 months after the violent robbery, nine cannabis plants were found in his loft leading to further guilty pleas for production of cannabis and abstracting electricity.

During the trial, the appalling and lasting effects that Perryman’s robbery had had on the lone female shop assistant was made clear – she believed she was going to be raped and killed and had made desperate attempts to escape. The court heard  how she experienced nightmares involving being shot in the head and has been diagnosed with PTSD. She was so traumatised she developed a thick grey streak in her hair.

It was also revealed that Perryman was jailed in 1991 for seven years for a series of armed robberies involving firearms – this had apparently not precluded him from a £50,000 per year job at Jaguar Land Rover.
