Scott Hallas (aka Dragalicious), a male drag queen, was convicted of theft by employee at Harrogate Magistrates’ Court in March 2026 after stealing more than £14,000 from the owners of a North Yorkshire pub.

Hallas, aged 40 and from Westcroft, Honley, North Yorkshire was sentenced in May 2026 to 12 months in prison, suspended for 18 months, and ordered to pay £6,000 in compensation over two years. Hallas was also ordered to complete 20 rehabilitation activity days and undergo mental health treatment. His employment was terminated but he has reportedly found new work as a drag performer elsewhere.

Scott Hallas took the cash from the till while working at The Fleece, in Skipton, between January and June 2024. He was caught when the premises switched to card machines and the owners noticed an increase in revenue. Hallas also performed at the pub under his drag name Dragalicious, 

The BBC managed to cover the story, likely because Hallas is a former X-factor contestant, but of course it was not tagged for inclusion of Hallas’ under their special Drag Queen topic, which at the time of writing, collates over 300 puff pieces about drag queens. An ex-BBC journalist has written previously here about BBC Online’s bizarre obsession with drag queens, publishing a story a week that is rarely actual news – while actively avoiding including any negative news stories under the topic.

In their coverage of Hallas’ conviction, local paper the Lancashire Evening Post note that while working at the Socialist Club in Honley in 2014, Hallas called police to the venue and reported being threatened at knife-point during a robbery as he opened up the bar for the evening. He alleged that a teenager with a kitchen knife walked into the bar and ordered him to fill a bag with money from the till, the safe and a cash box. The thief got away with between £200 and £300 cash.
