John Jeffs

John Jeffs, a male transvestite, was convicted in July 2022 at Northampton Magistrates’ Court of indecent exposure. He was given an 18-month community order and ordered to sign the sex offenders’ register. He was also ordered to pay £845 in court costs and £200 in compensation to the victim who witnessed the sex act.

Jeffs, a 74 year old retired vicar – was observed by a member of the public passing by his office at the Baptist church in Middleton Cheney. The witness said Jeffs was almost completely naked, except for a pair of ladies stockings, and “thrusting” into the nozzle of a vacuum cleaner.

The court heard that the 74-year-old apparently noticed the member of the public but continued to perform the sex act because he was feeling ‘naughty’. He then tried to claim he did not know he would be seen.

Jeffs’ defence barrister claimed in mitigation that Jeffs was in ‘a lot of pain’ because he was ignoring his health and his diabetes was not medicated.

Jeffs was reportedly a pastoral manager at Christian faith-based group, Parents Talking Asperger’s so the CPS test of whether the prosecution was in the public interest was likely clear – however, the magistrate apparently told the hearing: ‘Why you thought it best to bring this matter to trial, I have no idea.’
