Matthew/Rose Whitby

Matthew/Rose Whitby (aka Mathue Babic), a violent male who identifies as a transgender woman, was convicted at Stoke-on-Trent Crown Court in June 2022 of three charges of raping a child under the age of 13. Whitby/Babic was sentenced to 15-and-a-half years in jail and must serve at least 10-and-a-half years before being considered for parole.

The court heard that Whitby/Babic, 32, raped the child in a garden and on a canal bench, with a second person holding down the girl. Media reports note that the young victim still suffers with paranoia, anxiety and post-traumatic stress disorder. Whitby/Babic initially denied the offences but then later threatened suicide if not arrested.

StokeonTrentLive revealed that Whitby used to be known as Mathue Babic, and is a member of a family of violent rapist men. Described in court as “of limited intelligence”, the defendant was previously convicted in 2013 of two rapes and the attempted rape of young women. Whitby/Babic was jailed for eight years, alongside father Milan Babic who received a life sentence after being convicted of 40 serious sexual offences against eight female victims. A brother named Mikorlee Babic was also jailed for three years after being convicted of one count of rape and the mother, Deborah Babic, was later jailed for five years after threatening to kill one of Milan Babic’s victims.

Judge David Fletcher told Whitby/Babic, “These matters are much more serious than the matters you were convicted of in 2013. This was a particularly vulnerable child due to her extreme youth and circumstances. This was a campaign of rape. You are clearly a dangerous offender.”

Appallingly, Whitby/Babic is not the only trans-identified male sex offender who comes from a family of violent rapist men – see also Michael Farrow/Louise Ritson.
