Jason Pilley/ Jane Knightingale
Jason Pilley/Jane Knightingale, a violent male who identifies as a transgender woman, was convicted in February 2023 at Edinburgh Sheriff Court of intentionally exposing their penis and testicles to police officers and to obstructing them when they requested entry to the property after being called to a violent disturbance. Pilley/Knightingale escaped a prison sentence and was fined a total of £320 for committing both of the offences.
Sheriff Fiona Reith found the charges of Pilley/Knightingale making homophobic and racially offensive remarks had not been proven by the Crown.
Both the sheriff and subsequent media coverage nonsensically referred to Pilley/Knightingale’s exposed genitals as “her penis”. Additionally, on the Court News section of EdinburghLive website, the photos of Pilley and another trans-identified male, Andrew Miller, have been blurred (circled in pink below), whereas the photos of other male perpetrators have not. Granted, Miller has only recently been charged (i.e. has not been convicted of the crime), but Pilley has been convicted, so there appears to be one rule for some violent male offenders’ photos appearing in the media, and another rule for others.
See this post for further examples of trans-identified males abusing and assaulting law enforcement officers (and others prisoners when incarcerated).
